101-beautiful-bathroom-design-ideas

Out of all the interior design articles on the internet, for some reason bathroom remodeling and master bathroom designs don’t seem to get quite as much attention as the other rooms do. Below this article we will provide you with a link to check out our gallery of 101 beautiful bathroom design ideas, but before you head off to that gallery, we encourage you to take a minute or two to read through our top 5 tips when it comes to bathroom design.
1: Keep Things Where They Are
We understand you are excited about remodeling your bathroom, but don’t go over the top and move everything around. The bathtub, shower, toilet, and sink should remain in the same spot. Sure, you can get a new bathtub, shower, toilet, and sink, but the location shouldn’t change. Changing the location brings on unnecessary expenses.
2: Choosing The Right Colors
Color is extremely important. Keep in mind that when painting your bathroom, you should use neutral colors the help with the resell value.  Although if you plan on living in your house the rest of your life, the resell value doesn’t matter much. However, if you plan to sell in the future, neutral colors are the way to go.
Hues of either gray, off-white, black, or cream will provide you with a neutral yet elegant look and feel. Some shades of blue, green, and red can work depending on how the rest of your home looks, but make sure you avoid “loud” colors such as hot pink and neon yellow. There’s really no reason to use those colors.
3: Don’ Be Afraid To Follow The Trend
Sure, you want your bathroom design to look unique, who doesn’t? But this doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trend with certain things. For example, shower heads, light fixtures, and faucets are things that can easily be replaced without much labor, so choosing a trendy fixture is 100% acceptable. Usually the “trendy” bathroom fixtures are also the ones that are on sale, so this is a great way to save some money.
4: Spa Like Bathroom Design
If it’s in the budget, we highly recommend you go with a spa-like bathroom.  Not only are these GREAT for relaxing, but they increase your resell value quite a bit. The key to this is obviously choosing the right tub. The number 1 piece of advice we can give on this is to make sure you get a tub that is deep enough. Too many people try to save some money and get a tub that’s too shallow.  It might look nice but it won’t provide much relaxation.
5: It’s All About The Accessories
Like we said in tip number 3, everyone wants a unique look and feel to their bathroom design.  The problem is most people try to get the unique look by spending way too much money on their shower heads, faucets, toilets, and so on. The reason this is a big mistake is because it’s actually the accessories that will provide that unique design. Things such as your towel racks, soap dispensers, and even pictures or wall stickers will make your bathroom come together, so make sure you take the time to pick out the little things.

Ten Tips For Hiring The Right Contractor Series

Ten Tips For Hiring The Right Contractor Series - Tip #2

While the laws for a contractor's license differs by state, in most cases, a license is required to do any type of skilled labor on another person's home or property. For instance, an electrician, a plumber, or a drywaller may be required to have a license. Someone performing a variety of tasks may need to obtain a general contractor's license. The state may impose specific requirements such as minimum education or work experience to obtain a license. The state may also require that the contractor take an examination with different levels of licensing for the right to do different size jobs. In addition, the state may require that the contractor has an active worker's compensation insurance policy for a license to be issued.

Is the contractor license & insured?
Coops don’t always ask for licensing, but the homeowner will only endure recourse if the contractor is licensed by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs.

There are two common types: liability insurance and workers' compensation.

Liability insurance covers such situations as contractor-caused damage to your property, although it doesn't typically pay for repairing or replacing shoddy work. That is the reason for the bond.

Workers' compensation provides payment to injured workers for lost wages and medical services, regardless of who was at fault. Workers’ compensation coverage will also provide benefits to the contractor's family in the event of a work-related death.

If the contractor says he is insured, you should ask the following questions about his coverage:
  1. Does the contractor's insurance cover his workers should they become injured?
  2. Does the contractor's insurance cover you, your family and any visitors to your home if they are injured on the work site?

Tips for choosing an insured contractor

Homeowners need to watch out for dishonest contractors who might also be fraudulent and disappear after only doing a small portion of the work. The following should ensure that you get a legitimate worker and that the job gets done correctly.
  1. Check out the BBB Business Reviews at BBB.org.
  2. Ask for references from friends or neighbors who have had similar work done.
  3. If possible, talk to past customers of the business to find out what kind of experiences they had.
  4. Make sure everything is in writing, and read the fine print.
